The nervous system of our body

An invisible network that regulates our well-being

There is something inside us that works day and night, without us even noticing. It coordinates breathing, heartbeat, muscle tension, sleep, digestion, and even our emotions. It is the autonomic nervous system – a true “control center of well-being.”

“It is not the mind that guides the body, but the nervous system that instructs them both.”
Taken from an ancient Tibetan medical practice (transmitted orally and scarcely documented).

Two sides of the same energy: sympathetic and parasympathetic

The autonomic nervous system is divided into two parts that work as complementary opposites:

Sympathetic system:
It becomes active in moments of alertness, movement, stress, or danger. It increases heart rate, accelerates breathing, and prepares the body for action.
We activate it involuntarily every day: when we rush from one place to another, accumulate thoughts, or feel constantly tense.

Parasympathetic system:
It is the ally of calm. It slows the rhythm, supports digestion, and promotes sleep and regeneration. It is active when we feel safe, relaxed, and connected to our body.
This is exactly the system we stimulate through targeted relaxation and wellness treatments.

Massage doesn’t just release the muscles… it also soothes the nervous system

When I perform an at-home treatment, I am often told:
“I don’t know what you touched, but it felt as if all the noise inside me suddenly switched off.”

This is the response of the parasympathetic system coming into action.

In my work, I use a combination of:

  • relaxing and decontracting massages aimed at nerve endings

  • gentle techniques for the face, cervical area, chest, and sacral region

  • sometimes applications of healing muds or clays, along with personalized essences

Everything is designed to create an atmosphere of deep calm, right inside your comfortable home.

A little-known curiosity

A prolonged stimulation of the sympathetic system can inhibit the production of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter linked to memory and muscle tone.
This is why truly relaxing is not a luxury… but a form of prevention.

The subtle power of healing muds

Healing muds are not just about “beauty and smooth skin.”
When I use them in my treatments, I apply them to key areas connected to the central and peripheral nervous system, such as:

  • the lumbar and sacral spine

  • the abdomen (near the solar plexus)

  • the cervical area

The constant warmth and selected minerals help to:

  • release deep nervous tension

  • improve the mind–body connection

  • activate the release of natural endorphins

These muds are prepared with natural bases and ingredients that I select according to your needs (for example: chronic tension, stress, mental fatigue).

And if you would like to learn how to use them on your own, I can give you the right doses and method so you can replicate the treatment independently between sessions.

A simple gesture you can learn

During at-home sessions, I often share a small exercise to activate the parasympathetic system during moments of tension.
Here is a simple one you can start practicing on your own:

“4-7-8” Technique (vagal breathing)

  • Inhale slowly through your nose while counting to 4.
  • Hold your breath for 7 seconds.
  • Exhale slowly through your mouth for 8 seconds.
  • Repeat 3–5 times

This simple exercise helps calm the activity of the sympathetic system and stimulate the vagus nerve, which supports digestion, relaxation, and sleep.

According to recent studies, the vagus nerve is also linked to our capacity for empathy and intuition.

“The nervous system does not calm through thinking, but through the body. Only when the body feels safe can the mind trust.”
